We are delighted to announce that Professor David Gann, Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group at the Imperial College Business School and Chairman of the Think Play Do Group has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours announced on Saturday 12th June. The award recognises Professor Gann's great contribution to Engineering, particularly in relation to innovation in the built environment. Professor Gann also holds a chair at Imperial in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Think Play Do recently undertook a research study for the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association comparing the venture capital industry in the UK to those in Israel and the United States. The report, available here, delivers a series of recommendations on what the UK can learn so that venture capital will deliver greater benefits to innovative new firms and the wider economy.
Think Play Do delivers a seminar for leaders of a global lubricants firm to share its expertise in the next generation approaches to knowledge management for innovation.

Think Play Do completes its project with a leading medical devices and service company, helping them to use challenge-led innovation to solve some critical business issues and roll out crowd sourcing technologies for the front end of their innovation process. The project team, Pete Thomond and Alex Velkov were proud to work with the fantastic team at Elguji Software. The estimated impact of this work is a 50% reduction in the cycle time at the front end of innovation generating faster times to market, potentially worth millions in savings.

Dr. Peter Thomond has put his support behind Loughborough University's EPSRC bid on Helping SMEs Rise to the Sustainability Challenge. He will be contributing to the project by bringing his latest knowledge on innovation and diffusion of new ideas.

Working together with the Centre for Process Systems Engineering at Imperial College, we have delivered the first prototype of a technology optimisation modelling tool and a supporting innovation process for a national supermarket chain. The project manager, Dr. Peter Thomond states that this will enable the supermarket to select the optimal set of technologies for on-site energy generation and consumption. He predicts this will help them surpass their energy reduction targets, whilst significantly lowering their carbon footprint.
After taking part in IBM's Innovation Jam 2008, Think Play Do began research into software tools that enable challenge based innovation. We have since refined our list of software partners to include Imaginatik IdeaCentral.

One of Think Play Do's senior consultants, Dr. Peter Thomond recently presented at the UK Lotus User Group. Peter explored IBM's claim that its Enterprise Social Networking platform, Lotus Connections, empowers organisations to be more innovative. In this highly interactive session, the audience was introduced to the innovation process and asked to contribute their thoughts on the role of Lotus Connections within its key building blocks. Professor Mark Dodgson was special adviser to the Australian Government’s recent National Innovation System Review, Chaired by Terry Cutler. Mark has given numerous presentations on the Review to groups including The CEO Forum and the Business/Higher Education Roundtable. An overview of the Report: Venturous Australia, is available here.
Professor David Gann addressed 300 business leaders at Enterprise Ireland's Innovation Forum in Dublin on Thursday 11th September. His presentation, entitled ‘Connect To Innovate’ can be downloaded here.
