Alex graduated with a double degree in Business and IT from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia in 2007.
His interest in innovation was sparked at university when he considered the intersection between technology and business. Alex saw the challenges and issues faced by both disciplines, the frequent failure of one discipline to understand the other, and ultimately, the value that could be generated when different disciplines collaborate successfully.
Determined not to have a typical graduate experience, Alex joined what promised to be a revolutionary bio-fuel start-up. However, like many such start-ups, this one didn't live up to its promises and folded. This taught Alex the importance of failure as a fundamental part of learning in business.
He took this learning into a freelance innovation consulting engagement with Think Play Do's Dr. Peter Thomond and Kate Morrison which opened the door to a six month economic development policy engagement in Australia's Queensland State Government. These successful projects led him to accept Dr. Thomond's invitation to move to London to work with him once more.
Today, Alex works as an analyst and consultant for Think, Play, Do where his interests remain in the nexus between IT and business. |
